What is a Celebrant?
An independent celebrant crafts a unique, personalized ceremony focused on you and your partner. Through consultations, they gather details to make the experience memorable, unrestricted, and tailored to your preferences—whether religious, cultural, modern, or involving friends and family.
Is a Celebrant different to a Registrar?
A registrar is assigned by the council and must follow a set, legal script, typically offering a 15–20-minute ceremony at licensed venues only, with limited flexibility and timing restrictions including only meeting you for the first time 15 minutes before the ceremony. They now are offering a more personalised script, but this is in no way the same as a celebrant-led- wedding ceremony.
In contrast, a celebrant lets you choose the person who best reflects your vision. They create a personalized script, dedicate the day solely to you, and can hold your ceremony anywhere—licensed or not—for any length. While a celebrant-led ceremony requires a brief registry office visit to legalize the marriage (often for as little as £50), it allows full freedom in crafting a unique, meaningful experience.
Do Celebrants do other ceremonies?
Yes, celebrants can do Naming ceremonies, Vow Renewals, Funerals/ celebration of life, which once again are highly personalised and attention to detail is second to none.
How far would you travel?
Most celebrants would travel for your big day within reason and may have a milage charge after a certain mileage.
